Gloriana - Lapis Lazuli Pendant with Golden Beadwork (BW21)
Lapis lazuli is such a rich blue - worn since ancient times to promote peace and inner strength. I can imagine Cleopatra wearing a necklace such as this. I've called it Gloriana as the name Cleopatra means 'glory of the father" but the name Gloriana is also associated with Eizabeth the First and there is something distinctly Tudor in the beadwork.
Here I've encased a faceted lapis lazuli stone cut en cabochon in beadwork and beaded a necklace using gold and bronze delica seed bead with lovely lapis coloured rounded sead beads. I've used a combination of peyote and netting stitches.
The toggle clasp is also entirely made in beadwork.
The necklace measures 20" (515mm) with the pendant measuring 5.5cm.
The perfect necklace for a special occasion - you will feel like a queen when wearing it!
