Flowers are a big trend for 2010 and this pretty necklace of smoky quartz and frosted crystal quartz flowers will go with just about anything. The flowers are teamed with both small and large smoky quartz beads and the necklace fastens with a silver flower toggle from the Karen Hill Tribe of Thailand (which means that the silver content is higher than in sterling silver).

Smoky quartz is found in all shades, from the palest, almost transparent, to the deepest browns and all shades are evident here. Frosted crystal quartz is found naturally in desert regions where the actions of sand and wind on it give the frosting effect. I love the transulence of them and they contrast wonderfully with the smoky quartz flowers. Both were sourced from importers who began as gemstone miners themselves.

The necklace is 17.5" (444mm) long.
