Pyrite and Pearls Necklace (SM29)
This style is something of a departure for me but once I had the idea I just had to make it. I wanted to do something with pyrite and pearls, using the tiny cranberry coloured freshwater pearls to contrast with the metallic silvery-gold of the 10mm squares of pyrite and created the dangles by wiring the stones onto lengths of sterling silver and attaching to the main necklace.
The result is very dramatic and would look really stunning with a posh frock for an evening occasion. Pyrite is the original 'Fools Gold" and shimmers gold in the light but has a more silvery appearance in shadow.
The necklace itself measures 17" (432mm) with the longest dangle measuring 2.5" (7mm). The necklace finishes with a Karen Hill Tribe hammered silver toggle clasp.
