Obsidian Agate and Quartz Necklace (SM15)
Sorry - now sold!
Obsidian is formed when volcanic lava is cooled quickly by water, before it has a chance to crystallise, resulting in this lovely smooth stone. Here the obsidian is not so highly polished giving it a relatively matt appearance (although it looks more polished in the photos because of the way the light is shining on it). I have interspersed the obsidian with faceted quartz crystal and highly polished black agate beads which adds depth and elegance to this lovely necklace.
The clasp is a silver toggle handmade by the Karen Hill Tribe of Thailand, made from 99% pure silver.
The necklace is 19.5" (459mm)long, just right for evening's lower necklines.
