Lapis Lazuli Rock Necklace (SS45)

38 low in stock! Sorry - now sold!

The vivid blue colour of lapis lazuli derives from the mineral lazurite - the more lazurite crystals the better quality the stone. Here there are traces of lazurite crystals within a rock matrix (looks like flint to me - but I don't think lazurite is found in flint! It is, however, found in metamorphic limestone, which is probably what this is). I like this because of the flashes of blue but the look of the kind of flints we find around here.

If anyone asks what the stone is - just say Lapis Lazuli in a limestone matrix!

Here I've teamed the three stones with sodalite chips (sodalite also contains lazurite) to create a funky necklace that looks great with t-shirt and jeans. I've included oxidised Bali sterling silver beads to give the necklace a somewhat primitive look to match the roughly cut stones.

This necklace is 19" (482mm) long and finishes with a sterling silver lobster clasp.

Sorry - now sold!
