Colourful Crystal Quartz Necklace

Crystal quartz lends itself well to heat treatment, where precious stones are heated to a high degree to enhance their natural colours. It is at this stage that a dye can be introduced to change the colour and that is what has happened here, producing these colourful quartz beads which are perfect for summer!

I've teamed these with smaller facetted crystal quartz in their natural clear state and strung them onto silk for a nice fluid feel to the necklace.

The necklace is 20" (515mm) long, just the right length to wear with a white linen top or a summer maxi-dress. It fastens with a sterling silver bolt ring lasp and all other metal parts are also sterling silver.
