Aquamarine is a form of Beryl with a colour range from clearest blue, as here, to blue-green. Legend has it that this stone is the treasure of mermaids - and the feature silver 'sea shell' bead is a nod to this - but anyone would treasure this!

The two rows of sparkling aquamarine oval beads are joined to the little aquamarine nugget beads with an off-centre silver shell bead from the Karen Hill Tribe of silversmiths in Thailand which is between 95% and 99% pure silver.

Aquamarine is the modern birthstone for Aries (mid-March to mid-April) - the traditional stone being bloodstone. It is also said to instil courage, as if Aries girls have not courage enough! It is also said to clarify perception and promote creative self-expression - again, as if Aries really needs any help here! (Did you guess I am an Aries?).
