African Trade Beads with Radhoui Beads Necklace (BH10)
Sorry - now sold!
This dramatic necklace is made using African glass trade beads with Moroccan radhoui beads. Radhoui beads are made from local resinous materials by Moroccan craftswomen to imitate amber. It has a soft, organic feel to it and I can imagine wearing this necklace to a summer barbeque, or on a yachting trip (and when did I last/ever go on a yachting trip?!).
The beads are interspaced with handmade greek ceramic beads, coated with fine silver - a lovely finishing touch.
The African trade beads are made from glass and I believe contain both modern (made from powdered recylced glass in Ghana)and ancient (made by European glassmakers in the 19th century)beads.
The necklace is 17.5" (444mm) long, including the twisted wire sterling silver toggle clasp.
