'Beach Party' African Opal, Aventurine, Jade and Gold Necklace (BH11)

African opals are teamed with sunny orange aventurine round beads and butter yellow jade rondelles to create a summery necklace just right for a beach party - or barbeque! Gold vermeil (gold plated sterling silver) is used to create the dangly detail at the clasp (which can extend the necklace by a further 18mm) with a gold filled (thicker than gold plated) lobster clasp and two little gold filled beads framing the central African opal.

African opals are a natural stone with the same mineral composition as gem opals but not as structured and although these beads have a certain opalescence, they do not have the same fire as gem opals. These have a lovely earthy feel to them, with colours raning from creamy white to milky grey. Each one is different - you can spend hours gazing at each bead, marvelling at its beauty!

They work really well with the orange (described as 'red'!)aventurine with the pale yellow jade rondelles finishing the necklace off nicely.
